Mme. Bovary

edit

I object to the idea that Mme. Bovary suffered from monomania. What is the evidence of this?

I believe that this page has been copied from http://www.reference.com/browse/monomania. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.76.65.249 (talk) 17:41, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wherever it originated, this page is an exact copy of http://www.reference.com/browse/monomania. Brews ohare (talk) 15:03, 2 September 2010 (UTC) It appears that this article is replete with misattributions and false implications. Brews ohare (talk) 15:18, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's actually http://www.reference.com/browse/Monomania, with a capital M; and it's a Wikipedia mirror. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:09, 5 September 2010 (UTC) (I tell a lie; it seems that either version of "monomania" works). -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:11, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Types of monomania

edit

The source Psychogenic. and Somatopsychic Disorders Handbook contains only the example erotomania and does not mention the rest of the items on the list, nor the topic of monomania, which is today an archaic term no longer in technical use. Brews ohare (talk) 15:02, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

For some reason, I can't help but think perseveration should be related to this concept. It similarly involves fixating and obsessing on one idea. And why isn't Obsessive Compulsive Disorder regarded as related to monomania? Canadianism (talk) 00:40, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
