Proposed Changes to update Monkey Kingdom (Production Company) edit

  • Specific text to be added:

Monkey Kingdom[1] is an independent British television production company based in London, United Kingdom, with offices in Manchester and Los Angeles. Established by David Granger and Will Macdonald in 2000, the company was acquired by NBCUniversal International Networks in 2010[2]with Samantha Lawrence joining as MD in 2017.[3] Monkey was NBC Universal's third UK production venture following the acquisition of Carnival Films and the launch of Working Title TV, NBC Universal's joint venture with Working Title FilmsTim Bevan and Eric Fellner.[4]

The company creates, develops, produces, and sells entertainment and factual programming in the United Kingdom and the United States, with format sales worldwide. It produces content in various genres, including live studio, structured reality, hybrid reality-quiz shows, iconic game shows, live-studio shows, music entertainment, variety sketch shows, comedy and podcasts.[5]

Their shows include structured reality show Made in Chelsea for E4 [6], The Real Housewives of Cheshire for ITVBe[7] and Don't Hate the Playaz for ITV2. Further to more recent projects, Monkey has produced a plethora of series including music entertainment show TFI Friday, game show The Question Jury for Channel 4[8]and the UK’s first bisexual dating show The Bi Life for E! UK.[9]

Monkey is also responsible for developing and producing shows for NBCUniversal’s US networks, E! and Bravo, for which it has produced Tour Group and Newlyweds.[10] Other US network partners include ABC, Discovery, Lifetime, TBS, MTV and GSN.

Prior to founding Monkey, David Granger and Will Macdonald produced International Emmy/BAFTA/Rose d'Or-winning Don't Forget Your Toothbrush, TFI Friday, Lock, Stock..., MTV's Most Wanted and The Big Breakfast.
