Good article nomination on hold

edit

This article's Good Article promotion has been put on hold. During review, some issues were discovered that can be resolved without a major re-write. This is how the article, as of July 13, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: Audio sample should be woven into article (it's a guideline somewhere, I can't find it but know it to be the case ;). "Q's review of Doolittle referenced "Monkey Gone to Heaven": "It's not pretty, but its carefully structured noise and straight forward rhythmic insistence makes perfect sense: a gut feeling that is doubled when it gets within sniffing distance of a tune, as on 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' or 'Debaser'." - reword the first part of this sentence please. ""Monkey Gone to Heaven" was the first Pixies song to feature guest musicians — the band is accompanied by a cellist and two violinists" - Who were these musicians? "man's relationship with the divine" - phrase repeated twice.
I've addressed these points.
2. Factually accurate?: "and marked the beginning of an era of experimentation with their sound." - ref?
Removed.
3. Broad in coverage?: OK
4. Neutral point of view?: OK
5. Article stability? OK
6. Images?: WP:FURG - [1]

I'd still like to see the audio sample woven in somewhere (see Dream Days at the Hotel Existence for an example of what I'm talking about), but I've passed it nonetheless. Giggy UCP 10:03, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rock me, Joe!

edit

Regarding the melody section: seeing as it contains as much detail anyway, do you think it would be worthy of mention that Frank adapts this shout to a spoken "Rock me, Joseph Alberto Santiago" in the live performance on Pixies at the BBC? I found it significant because it wasn't immediately apparent to me that the "Joe" he was requesting to be rocked by was in fact the guitarist standing right next to him. But maybe I'm just stupid like that. - Phorque (talk) 13:56, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I notice someone added this in now, but according to the Pixies at the BBC article "Monkey Gone to Heaven" wasn't recorded for a Peel Session but for the Mark Goodier show. I'll change the article to reflect this. 67.81.238.109 (talk) 00:28, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
