Article overhaul: first request edit

Hello Wikipedia editors. I work with Monique Péan and have been asked to present some improvements to the Wikipedia page about her, on her behalf. The page as it is written uses some sources that I understand don't meet Wikipedia standards, and overall there is a lot missing about Péan's work as an artist. In the last few years, she has received note for her art, especially her sculptural work. Due to that, I'd like to suggest that this page be set up like a more typical artist page on Wikipedia.

I've had help to prepare an updated draft for the page and would like to work with editors to replace or edit the page to add the new material.

If the draft is too much to review at one time, I'd like to propose starting with the "Career" section, which I am suggesting be replaced by a section titled "Work". The draft for this:

  1. Adds better references
  2. Trims down the very long list of people who have worn Péan's pieces
  3. Removes extraneous details about the locations of her studios
  4. Consolidates mentions of exhibitions where her work is featured, and trims these to ones that can be properly referenced
  5. Adds information about her work, including background to her becoming an artist, details about her painting, sculpture and other work
  6. Includes sub-sections to discuss process and themes, and her other roles

I'm excited to collaborate with editors on this. Please let me know if you're willing to help review and how I can assist. KM for Monique Péan (talk) 16:38, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, User:Geysirhead, User:GünniX, and User:Savvyjack23, as you're all active editors from what I can see and had edited this page within the last year, would you be willing to help review suggestions? I would be very appreciative of any help. KM for Monique Péan (talk) 14:33, 8 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi KM for Monique Péan, those edits from your draft look good. In terms of the studio move from Meatpacking to Soho though, if it were a public display (ie gallery), I would opt to keep or reword that section to fit it within the flow of the article. Also, we know not of any reference that can source Ms. Péan’s age or a celebrated date of birth; perhaps you can locate one? It would be nice not to use a circa and at least know the correct year of birth. Please feel free to reach out with any further concerns or questions. Remember, Wikipedia is a public place where anyone can make changes to any article, as so long as it is reliably sourced (which would eventually be undone). If any objections should arise, the most interested parties will naturally reach out to discuss. Cheers. Savvyjack23 (talk) 05:27, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello User:Savvyjack23, thank you for replying, I'm glad you think the draft is good. To answer your questions, the studio is not a public gallery, so based on your note I think it is therefore fine not to include the change of location. There also are not any public sources for Monique's date of birth and she would prefer not to include the exact date since it isn't publicly known.
What are the next steps for updating the page? Would you be able to add in the part of the draft that you've reviewed and are comfortable with? Very appreciative of your help! KM for Monique Péan (talk) 20:44, 13 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thank you User:Randy Kryn, User:Vexations, and User:Another Believer. I was very surprised to see my draft added to the page all at once. I understand that some edits have been made and might still need to be made to get it in shape. There are a couple of places where I'd like to help to resolve concerns that have been raised:

Vexations mentioned at WikiProject Visual Arts that they don't feel like it's appropriate to use sustainable to describe fossils. Rather than argue about what counts as a sustainable material, I wonder if we can resolve this with a couple of small changes:

  1. In the introduction changing "making use of sustainable materials such as fossils, meteorites and recycled metals" to read "making use of fossils, meteorites and sustainable materials such as recycled metals."
  2. In Work, removing "sustainable" from "sustainable fossilized walrus ivory"

It looks like editors thought that Management Leadership Tomorrow's Career Advancement Program doesn't exist. It certainly does, so I think this might just be a case that it was hard to find the details online. The website for the program is here. Can the "failed verification" template be removed?

I understand about the removals of the awards, and the other edits made. Is there any other feedback? Also, looping back in User:Savvyjack23 in case they have any thoughts too! Again, I really expected to go back and forth on the draft when it was in my user space to help with these kinds of things, so I'm happy to help here as needed. Thank you all.
