Rosary

The paragraph on the rosary was inserted too early (I think), even before Dominic's foundation of the convent. I've put it at the end, as a separate section. This may not be the best answer; however, the section wants some work, I think. It says that Prouille is "often" given as the origin of the Rosary: what does "often" mean, and why do some disagree? It says that the vision in 1208 was "reported": by whom, and when, was it reported? What's the earliest source for it?

If there are contemporary sources, then I would agree that this vision should be mentioned in its logical sequence in the history (after, not before, the foundation of the convent). Andrew Dalby 19:39, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I think the section is fine the way you placed it. It was probably too high up, now that you mentioned it. The rosary connection to Prouille certainly needs to be mentioned, for millions of Catholics believe it to be the location in which St Dominic received the apparition. As for contemporary references I listed two books in print that can be ordered from Amazon.com that both state this as a fact in their view. I said "reported" apparition, because as soon as one says apparition, we enter the world of "apparition debate" whereby you will get 10 physicists who will argue that no apparition can ever take place anyway, and 10 Cathoics that will disagree with the physicists and everyone will argue with each other to no end. Hence one has to say "reported" before all of these visions, etc. to avoid those unnecessary debates that will never be settled. Anyway, in the Catholic world, Prouille is certainly a location of serious significance and the rosary connection should be mentioned. Best History2007 (talk) 22:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
