Creation of the Monarchy in Ancient India Page

edit

No other articles deal with what ancient Indian texts actually have to say about kingship, so I feel the creation of this page to be more than warranted! Lotus (talk) 20:15, 5 December 2008 (UTC) Although that is true, this article as it presently stands isn't about monarchy in ancient India, since it presents no historical or archeological evidence of how monarchy was in ancient India. It is an article about the political theory of monarchy in ancient India, and I think its title should be changed to something more apropriate, since the present title is misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.50.80.5 (talk) 00:01, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

My proposal (to the contrary) is to develop this article into a review of ancient states in India, as opposed to the Hindu monarchies (the latter article I have started while being confused with the title of this one). The expanded text of this article might include the secular and Islamic monarchies among others, IMHO. Alternatively, the merge of Hindu monarchies and this article can be considered (although Hindu kings were spread wider than India). See also yet another article on the subject, Mahajanapadas. Kingship under Buddhism

edit

If anyone would like to begin the significance of kingship under the influence of Buddhism in ancient India, they are more than welcome! I intend to work on this topic myself as well, after I do the necessary research. Lotus (talk) 09:06, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
