Fair use rationale for Image:Can-pol w.jpg

Image:Can-pol w.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:GeorgeGrantReader.jpg

The image Image:GeorgeGrantReader.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --00:59, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

The article reads like a monarchist tract. 65.95.224.137 (talk) 07:30, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

the part called "Quebec sovereignty"

This part sounds like a defence of the monarchy against the not even shown arguments of sovereignists (or more generally republican Quebecers). It is very one-sidded. But more importantly, it makes wrong interpretation of sources.

  • Moreover, far from being dismissive of the French hertiage of Canada, the country's royalty has always gone to allowable lengths to ensure the inclusion and appreciation of that culture

This is an opinion, a point of view, but not a fact and should not be presented as such. Morover "always" should be removed, as it is false (just think about the Durham Report, but I am sure that we could find other examples).

  • In response to the republican claim that Canada becoming a republic would appease the drive for Quebec sovereignty, monarchists say that those in Quebec who wish for their province to secede from confederation rely on anti-British, historical revisionism

This is not what the source says so this should me heavily modified, but the source is only, again, an opinion from Conrad Black. Is it representative of the monarchists? I don't thing so.

  • and view any federal authority as repressive, regardless of whether that authority is republican or monarchical; hence, the future of the monarchy is regarded as a non-issue by separatist parties like the Bloc and Parti Québécois.

Again, this is not what the 2 sources say. They say that the Bloc and the PQ won't protest against the visit of the Prince, even if they find the monarchy useless. Nowhere it is said that they think it's a non-issue.

  • Monarchists also say that Canadian presidents would be more often selected by and/or from the majority Anglophone population of the country, and thus sovereigntists would argue that Québécois are not being represented by the head of state.

Is that WP:OR? Because it is not sourced.

  • Even if a sovereignty-association relationship with Canada was established, questions remain as to whether or not Quebec would truly be free of the Canadian monarchy.

This is a monarchist opinion, we should avoid to present it as if it was a real question. There is no doubt in the Quebec sovereignty movement that a sovereign Quebec wouldn't have the Queen as its head of state and would be a republic. This is at least what have been proposed by all major political parties, including at the two referendums. --zorxd (talk) 19:35, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
