Proper transliteration?

edit

Newly registered editor Mohammadreza zeinalkheiri made this edit, which was reverted, that changed the player's name in English from "Zeynalkheiri" to "Zeinalkheiri".

The English Wikipedia usually uses the most common English transliteration for a person while they are well known. For currently active professional sports figures, that would be the English transliteration that most media is using today.

Editors with knowledge of how the English-language media refers to this person today are welcome to provide input.

If there is one clearly-dominant English spelling in use today and it is something other than the current spelling, "Zeynalkheiri," then the page should be moved to that spelling. See Wikipedia:Page moves and Wikipedia:Article titles for details.

If there is ambiguity as to what name is the dominant spelling, there will need to be a discussion before moving the page. See Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves for instructions.

Also, on a technical note, {{DEFAULTSORT}} should generally align with the page title, with the last name first. {{DISPLAYTITLE}} cannot be used to "rename" a page, see Wikipedia:DISPLAYTITLE for its proper use. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:08, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
