The phrase "Model Minority Myth" (and "Model Minority" in general) seem to conflate two apparently similar but quite different things:

1) Certain minority groups, particularly Asian Americans, are successful, and well-adjusted, with little or no need for social or economic assistance for that group compared to the majority group. 2) Certain minority groups, particularly Asian Americans, are successful, and well-adjusted, demonstrating that there is little or no need for social economic assistance for other, apparently less successful minority groups, as the first minority group serves as a "model" for the other groups to follow.
