Was Mr Werbell really in the OSS?

I've noticed on a Detachment 101 website that Mr Werbell is not listed as one of the members. Also a photo of him in a bizarre uniform features a shoulder patch of a unit that was not in Burma.Foofbun (talk) 00:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

• I saw the photo quite some time ago in a book (remember those?) He was wearing a Commonwealth type slouch hat (as some Americans in the CBI did) with US khakis with a 503rd PIR patch on his right shoulder. A unit that was not in Burma (unless you believe 'Objective Burma') and something a real OSS operative would not be entitled to (I doubt he popped into New Guinea or Corregidor)Foofbun (talk) 09:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Military rank

I have seen him referred to as Lt. General, such as in this book[1]. Has anyone heard differently? Angel's flight (talk) 19:25, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

It seems implausible. He may have received that title from some small government, but there's no evidence he spend any time in the U.S. Army. I doubt the OSS had ranks like that for agents.   Will Beback  talk  22:04, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Schoolnet.co.uk is not a reliable source. Didion says that he described himself as a "retired lieutenant general of the Royal Free Afghan" something, but does not say that he actually held that rank, an important distinction.   Will Beback  talk  01:58, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Death by digoxin poisoning

Y'all do understand that the dosage of digoxin is usually measured in tenths of a milligram (100 micro-grams), and the usual liquid preparation contains 0.05 mg/ml (50 micro-grams/milliliter), so "4 to 6 ounces" at 30 ml/ounce would result in a total between 6,000 micro-grams (6 milligrams) and 9,000 micro-grams (9 milligrams) of the drug - more than enough to cause significant nausea and vomiting very rapidly. Additionally, the main effect of digoxin is NOT relaxation of the heart, but to make the heart bead stronger and more slowly, i.e., a heart *stimulant.* It would definitely be enough to cause him to seek medical help within hours at the most, and most likely would NOT particularly have contributed to his death several days later with no evidence of prior hospitalization.

I would rate the story of the poisoning at the Cotton Club as 'improbable' at best, agreeing with Mr. Isaacman.
