To-do edit

The importance of the page for Minsoo Kang as a historian and a writer is probably lies in his short story collection 'Of Tales and Enigmas', in which he adopts the styles of Western genre fiction to explore his personal vision of Korean history; based on resources on wiki, he is probably the first one (if not the only one) who have blended the histories, ideas, and legends of the eastern(Korean) and western(European) in a harmony with the knowledge from both sides. Here are the to-do I can think of now:

  • Current section of 'Academic Work' is more like a resume - e.g, his master thesis wouldn't be important unless it relates with his ground breaking literature work. Maybe far from a prolific writer yet, I thought his particular point of view might be inspiring for future writers.

Historian, not Engineer edit

The Minsoo Kang that wrote of Tales and Enigmas is not the same Minsoo Kang that wrote all that stuff about pedometers. He is not an engineer. Please understand that Minsoo and Kang are both common Korean names. His CV is available on UMSL's website, that is where I got all that stuff that reads like a resume.

Moreover, Dr. Kang is not an American citizen. He served in the ROK army at the DMZ, that is why his fiction depicts that setting. Residency in the US is not the same as citizenship, therefore it isn't quite right to call him either an American or a Korean American. DaronDierkes (talk) 10:15, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Minsoo Kang's citizenship edit

Minsoo Kang is listed on the wiki page List of American writers of Korean descent, maybe it's not enough to assume he's an American writer. But having served in ROK army doesn't mean he can't become a naturalized citizen later. As we don't know exactly Dr.Kang's citizenship, I removed the nationality info from his page at this point. Although he seems to be quite Americanized, or westernized, in terms of his culture heritage, education and books and opinions etc.

One way to find it out might be emailing Dr. Kang (to his address at the University of Missouri–St. Louis), but I wondered if it's necessary, though I found his personal experience and knowledge and study in European history rare especially among Asian American writers, so rare that I think others(writers of Korean descent in particular) might find his books(very few though) and point of view interesting and inspiring.
