Tallest Douglas fir grew near Mineral WA

A Douglas fir 393 feet tall once grew near the town, a cross section of the 14 ft diam tree is preserved at the Wind River Arboretum. YMCA campground on Mineral Lake

I added a brief mention of the YMCA land purchase for a future campground, but it feels as if the topic should be covered in greater detail as it is notable to the Mineral community, Lewis County and the surrounding areas. Yes, there's obvious controversy here (could add a ton more refs on this topics, but start --->) : support from local tribal councils but strong opposition from residents and recreational enthusiasts. A Mineral resident, or perhaps a Wiki editor with experience in writing about possibly argumentative concerns, can write this up better than an outsider can.

Went ahead and added in the info over the last two years. I did the best I could to leave it neutral following WP:UNDUE. I leave it to more experienced editors from the area or know more about the YMCA, zoning, and the Nisqually people to add more if needed.Shortiefourten (talk) 18:50, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
