Actual information

Something that this article lacks... A lot.

Firstly, where is the section on Grammar? On Phonology? Secondly, is there really a need for these example sentences? I mean, it's not telling anyone anything besides "Minangkabau is closely related to Indonesian and Malay".

I will look for some information on the phonology of this language. If someone comes back with "But this language has the same phonology as Malay/Indonesian!" Then copy/paste the phonology charts over and then leave a note there. That is all. --Burned Toast (talk) 00:39, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

There are some wrong information

I think the info about Minangkabau language is false.

There's no letter Q in this language. The glottal stop has been transliterated as an apostrophe in medial word and letter K as coda.

There are 5 vowels, same as Japanese, Spanish or Batak language. There's no schwa (ə) vowel in this language phonology, maybe as allophone of /a/ as in diphthongs: /iə/ (ia) and /uə/ (ua). Ryan Prillvers Boy (talk) 14:43, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Ryan Prillvers Boy: You are most certainly right: there is no schwa, at least in the variaties of Minangkabau that I am familiar with. Nevertheless, the controversial data was inserted with a citation, which is unfortunately not available to me. So, instead of changing the content without citing a source, you should rather look up for a source which backs up your personal knowledge. Otherwise, your edits will not be verifiable. –Austronesier (talk) 15:38, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

bahasa negeri sembilan

Rather than "Negeri Sembilan Malay, known as Bahaso Nogori / Baso Nogoghi, is now a distinct language, more closely related to Malay than to Minangkabau" should it not instead be "Negeri Sembilan Malay, known as Bahaso Nogori / Baso Nogoghi, is now a distinct language, resembling Malay more than Minangkabau" Aiseeyah (talk) 09:57, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
