Untitled edit

When I saw the trailer in the cinema in the UK, Homer says "I forgot what I was supposed to say" there. Are we sure he just 'expressed uncertainty' in US cinemas, whatever that means? BillyH 18:59, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

What song was playing during the video before Abe was killed?Timothybroadwell 16:33, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's a song by the Glenn Miller Orchestra (Abe requests seing Hippies being beaten up while listening to the Glenn Miller Orchestra). I don't know how the song is called though. 84.75.187.246 (talk) 20:27, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok I did a little research. It's called "Pennsylvania 6-5000" by the Glenn Miller Orchestra (1942). I was intrested in that, too. By the way: Abe was not really killed :-). 84.75.187.246 (talk) 20:47, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jim Jam Bonks? edit

Isn't it Jim Jam Bongs? As in 'bong', as in another spoof on rasta culture?--Anchoress 03:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Inside Joke edit

I added in the Trivia section that when Homer says "You'll see, I'll spearhead the hell out of this expansion bit" that it is an inside joke reffering to Spearhead, the expansion game to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. If someone thinks they have an idea what this could refer to in addition, or instead of, please post.

Grandpa Quote edit

Does Anyone know teh qoute grandpa said something about harder to make people happy than misereable?

Show Mistake?

What happened to teh NFL commissioner's car? When simpson's got home, it was gone?

Not NFL. ;-) They don't mention it as anything other than a "pro football" (pro football commish). I assume they don't have the rights to use it.

Movie spoof edit

The scene where grandpa choses and then watches the soundtrack and video before his death is a spoof of an old sci-fi movie from the 60’s or 70’s, anyone know what the film is?

SOYLENT GREEN IS MADE OF PEOPLE!!!

Whoever you are, thank you very much for writing this last phrase! I finally rediscovered the movie! I hope the link to IMDB facilitates things up :) Some few notes concerning this subject:

  • The background of the suicidal room is also orange, as Sol's favorite color
  • The police intervention at the end of "Cops beating up Hippies" movie is a metaphor of Police Officer Thorn breaking up the facility to encounter Sol

It's a pretty good reference! On IMDB there's also a reference to Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie when you search for Soylent Green InforGatherer (talk) 23:48, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nightmare on Elm Street? edit

I noticed two N.oE.S. references in the first act alone: The kids singing Ring around the Rosies when the camera zooms in on the cellar. Also, Freddy Krueger jumps through the map of Springfield during the L.A. promotional video. Has anyone seen anymore, enough to say that there is a direct link? ~~Lazyguy~~I r needing userboxes plz! 21:34, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cultural reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail edit

In the very beginning of the episode when Homer is working on the team "Springfield Meltdowns", the sounds of handicraft are a lot like the Englishmen making the wooden rabbit ("Trojan horse") in the Holy Grail. Also, not showing the actual work fits well. Can anyone confirm? 92.242.177.66 (talk) 18:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Improvements edit

Anyone have any idea on how to bold the Million Dollar Abie and remove the hyphen from the episode template? 104.172.39.100 (talk) 20:10, 1 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
