The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that at least 21 American troops died as a result of friendly fire during the recapturing of Kiska in 1943, despite the island being uninhabited at the time of the assault?

This article is missing an entire portion of its subject matter, it covers nothing of the Russian Administrations military history and its interactions with the natives. As it is now it focuses almost entirely on world war two, and most of it could likely be merged into the Aleutian Campaign. It also lacks details on the cold war period, and the islands important air bases and early warning stations that were critical during the time period.XavierGreen (talk) 22:44, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for bringing this up. I couldn't find anything on the Web about these topics that wasn't trivial - if you are able to find anything (and I mean anything - anything at all), please link to it here or incorporate it into the article yourself. I also object to your assertion that the article focuses almost entirely on WWII - I'm estimating half of the article focuses on other things, and considering that WWII made up a big chunk of the Aleutians' military history, this is a pretty good summary. Comments I will list comments beneath this comment:
Zoom in on the map or else tweak it a little; currently the rivers and the bright green coastlines detract from the red dot... (besides, that isn't the entirety of the Aleutian Islands...) WikiCopter (♠ • ♣ • ♥ • ♦ • simple • commons • lost • cvu • onau) 01:55, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
My image skills are really sub-par - are you able to do this at all? I honestly have no idea... ArcticNight 02:12, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Nope... my image skills are sub-sub-par. Request at the MILHIST project would be my recommendation. WikiCopter (♠ • ♣ • ♥ • ♦ • simple • commons • lost • cvu • onau) 02:31, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
The American burials were undertaken at Massacre Bay as well as at Holtz Bay - in the former case, the bodies of the soldiers were buried in individual graves of size one foot deep in groups of eight soldiers.... ...of size one foot deep...? Clarify. WikiCopter (♠ • ♣ • ♥ • ♦ • simple • commons • lost • cvu • onau) 02:37, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Clarified - I hope this is clearer. ArcticNight 02:47, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good job. I will wait for the image for a week or so, if the attempt proves unsuccessful, could you contact the creator of the current map. WikiCopter (♠ • ♣ • ♥ • ♦ • simple • commons • lost • cvu • onau) 03:05, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK thanks. I have created a fairly atrocious map by myself - when I go to upload it, however, I get File extension does not match MIME type. I think I'll wait for MILHIST instead! ArcticNight 03:31, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
