Original nomenclature edit
I was part of the first such exercise in August 1977, the deployment of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers TAVR Regiment across Scotland to do a shedload of tidying up, blowing up WWII blockhouses (which is how Turnberry got the Bunker bunker, the lid was supposed to be blown apart, but was more strongly built than expected, it simply flew up in the air where the wind caught it and flipped it to land on the edge of the 18th Green!) and the like. It was then called Military Aid to the Civil Communities (MACC) as a slightly wider conception than Civil Authorities - our HQ Field Squadron was working for Scottish Heritage improving access to Hailes Castle, bridging the local River Tweed east of Edinburgh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.219.67.184 (talk) 12:26, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
