This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Mikey Georgeson (1967-) is an important artist, working in various media. He is a painter and illustrator, whose work is exhibited in the Walker Gallery, Liverpool, and other galleries (group exhibitions including 'Wapobaloobop' Transition Gallery London 2008, 'Legends of Circumstance' Whitecross Gallery London 2009, Bargate Gallery Southampton 2010 & Liverpool Biennial 2010. His London solo shows were 'My Magic Life' Sartorial Art 2008, 'Father, Son & Holy Smoke' Bear Gallery 2009, and 'Tragicosmic' Sartorial Art 2010.)

As 'the Vessel' he is songwriter and singer of the cult art-rock band, David Devant and his Spirit Wife, who were the subject of a Channel 4 documentary, a 1997 profile in the Sunday Times and many reviews in the Guardian and other newspapers. Caroline Sullivan described a 1996 show in the Guardian: 'Led by a quiffed and moustachioed waif called the Vessel, they offer penny-dreadful glam rock augmented by a host of special effects. The music alone is worth the price of admission ... but the Devants strive to provide a more complete experience... Long may they do their strange thing.'

Radio One Breakfast DJ Mark Radcliffe, chose his single, Ginger, as his record of the week, saying, 'Initially I was intrigued by the look of them, by the name, by the image. Then I heard some really good songs...Unless the records themselves work there is no point to all the theatricality. But this lot are messing about with the concept of what makes a pop band. Their act isn't just a gimmick. We need more bands like them.' [Sunday Times profile, 20 April 97].

Here's a biography of him from the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool

He is also a member of Glam Chops, the Glam Rock band formed with Eddie Argos of Art Brut.

Performing as Mr Solo, Georgeson has also made a number of appearances as part of This Happy Band, a loose collective of artists, poets and musicians who have performed together at art events including 'Dead Season / Live Art' for Limbo Arts in Margate and Nunhead Open Exhibition 2009 and 2011

edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Mikey Georgeson aka Mr Solo is not only a singer/songwriter in several notable bands but also a painter of distinction and a true English Eccentric. — Fredpipes (talk) 13:38, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also note that since the speedy tag was added, Cephascrispus has substantially expanded the article and added sources to it, so regardless of anything else it's hard to see how A7 still applies --Miskwito (talk) 16:02, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
