Sources were added on 7 Feb, including Rolling Stone, Billboard and Huffington Post. Nearly every single sentence is sourced. The musician was a key member of The Academy Is...

Given the long article on the band and the articles on several other members of the band (some of which are not as well sourced as this one), seems that this article should not be deleted. Use Wikipedia:Notability (music) as your guide, not other poorly sourced articles. WP:OTHERSTUFF is not an excuse for an article to exist. --Dual Freq (talk) 15:44, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

That makes sense. This article has seven sources, and it makes a contribution to the music category on its own. The musician was one of two primary songwriters for the hit song and nearly all of the bands lyrics. The band had a decade of incredible history. This is not a flash in the pan, and he was one of the most important musicians, likely the #2 musician in the band. I have read the discussion from June 2007 that lead to the decision on deleting the old article. The article has now been expanded and meets WP:N. One reason is the musician has more history now than in 2007, and far more has been written about him in independent sources. There are seven independent sources for the article now. Your sources appear to be sources for "The Academy Is...", but you will need sources that specifically focus on Mike Carden to demonstrate his individual notability. There is a difference in notability of a band vs. individuals. Most of those sources just prove that he exists, not that he is notable and several of them are just duplicated canned publicity biographies. Don't confuse those as individual reliable sources, they are just duplicate publicity bios hosted on different sites. The article is about a musician and music manager who is individually notable for his career that has included founding, playing guitar, vocal and management of one of the top 10 indie bands of the last decade. The news sources include the BBC, the Chicago Daily Herald, Rolling Stone, Billboard and others. Those sources only mention Carden in passing and in context of The Academy Is... No demonstration of individual notability thus far. You are looking for a source that is primarily about Carden not the band. For notable persons these would give details about them, birth date / age, where born and raised, minor family details, education, etc. These would be from a reliable source like a book, newspaper or magazine, not social media. --Dual Freq (talk) 19:41, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

They are from the same quote and each only mention Carden in passing, there is no reason to include both and neither demonstrate his notability. "Gabe says he's now going to help new artists with his friend and The Academy Is... guitarist Mike Carden." is all that it says about him, the article is about "Cobra Starship" and "Gabe Saporta" not Carden. Was Carden even in that band? The billboard article also simply quotes Saporta saying "And so, me and my boy Mike Carden are starting a company to do just that" Another passing reference. --Dual Freq (talk) 02:37, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
