Dating the accident
editCan anyone recall the exact year the concrete fell off the Towers? I think it was 1976 or 1977 but I'd like to be more exact. 23skidoo 16:19, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why the bit about a person being killed in the collapse was removed as this was a legitimate part of the story, so I put it back. 23skidoo 13:31, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
The date of the tower incident was August 16, 1976 and occured at 6:15pm. The block of concrete fell from the West Side of the Tower. An article in The Saskatoon Star Phoenix dated August 17, 1976 outlines the incident. There was no-one injured or killed by the concrete. The slab fell through the ceiling of The Royal Trust. The mall was closed at the time of the incident and shoppers had already left the Plaza. 216.208.252.5 16:26, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Michele Kowbel
- I just noticed this posting from several months ago and will add the citation - thanks. However I beg to differ that no one was killed. I remember clearly the news report that someone in the Royal Trust bank was struck and killed by the concrete. 23skidoo (talk) 19:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Merge some more
editMerge Midtown Plaza into this article and put a link on Central Business District, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan#Shopping. Peter Horn 15:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
History
editWhy is there no mention of this being the old train station, converted into a mall? The History section here is sorely lacking. Can someone with knowledge and access to verifiable sources update the History section with some train station info?
- For one thing the station was not "converted." It was demolished. The Midtown Plaza was a new building entirely. A facade based on the original station was added about 15 years ago, but that's the only physical connection to the depot. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 13:18, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Food Court expansion
editI took out the comment that the food court was expanded to include the cinema space. This is completely wrong. Although a small portion of the former cinema was taken over by shops, basically the area that was once the lobby, the food court most definitely did not take over the large cinema area. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 13:18, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Someone once again indicated this occurred in a 2005-2006 renovation. I go to that mall regularly and while there were some nips and tucks, the renovation being claimed here did not occur to the degree described. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 17:14, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Restored some information
editIt would appear someone has removed a fair bit of information from the article, such as the fact it underwent expansion in 1990 that added a second floor (not an insignificant renovation). I have restored this information. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 16:22, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
- And someone removed it again along with vital information about its history. Clearly some editors do not want Wikipedia ACTUALLY CONTAIN INFORMATION so I'm washing my hands of this article and all others related to Saskatoon. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 15:28, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Ownership of the mall
edithttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/midtown-plaza-mall-redevelopment-tax-break-1.4704741 indicates that http://kingsettcapital.com/ a real estate investment fund owns or owns with others this mall. Someone who knows how to edit these things needs to put this in. 71.17.134.14 (talk) 23:58, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Renaming to "Midtown"
editI've filled in a few historical blanks and removed a bit of unneeded information, but I haven't been able to track down when the place was changed from Midtown Plaza to "Midtown". There should be a mention in the article as to when this happened. I think it might have happened with the 2019 renovation but I don't want to guess on that one. 70.73.90.119 (talk) 23:19, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
