WWII History

edit

Does the story of the plan by Hitler to use the Midland as a Nazi HQ in the event of an invasion of Britain have any substance? I've inserted the word 'allegedly', as I'm not sure it does, but if anyone knows better...Guy Hatton 13:20, 8 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I removed the reference at it has no basis in fact. Hitler did not plan to locate any governmental buildings outside of London or Oxford. -Jamal

I have added a reference - "allegedly" is about as high as I would go, though. -- ALoan (Talk) 20:28, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not sure but the use of the phrase:

  • ...the hotel is within walking distance of most of Manchester's attractions.

Smacks one as being a bit like a corporate brochure.

A better way of describing the location could be:

  • ...the hotel faces the Central Library, the Town Hall and the former Manchester Central Railway Station, now GMEX.

Ownership

edit

In the Facilities section it states that The Midland joined the Paramount group in 2004 and will benefit from a £12 million upgrade investment to become a five-star hotel. However its nowhere to be seen on the Paramount Hotels website http://www.paramount-hotels.co.uk and in fact appears on the QHotels website http://www.qhotels.co.uk. I added the tag, not reverted it in case someone knows something (such as subsidiary/trading name etc.) that I dont. --TFoxton 21:52, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
