Number of works?

How many works exist in this genre? It is possible to list all of the notable ones or link to a complete list? -- Beland (talk) 15:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

A problem with the Scottish part

The article says "Douglas's version of Virgil's Aeneid is one of the early monuments of Renaissance literary humanism in English." But Douglas clearly states he is not writing in English. As he says "(As that I couth) to mak it, brade and plane Kepand no sodroun, bot oure awin langage And speke as I lerned, quhen I wes ane page Na ʒit so clene, all sudroun I refuse"

(As I could do that to make it broad and plain Keeping no English but our own language And I speak as I learned when I was a page Not yet so clean all English I refuse)

This statement is incredibly clear how he shows he is not writing in "sodroun" but in his "awin langage". This cannot be misunderstood by anyone to mean he was writing in English. So I suggest either the sentence be changed to reference this or entirely removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScotCuchullin (talkcontribs) 14:39, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Caxton and the English language - problematic??

Hi, y'all! I suggest that this section be re-written by someone with Middle English literature expertise. Having read the single citation here <https://www.bl.uk/treasures/caxton/english.html>, this section appears to have completely missed the key points of the British Library article regarding ME literature. Furthermore, the 2nd paragraph contains some broad-brush statements that desparately need verification/clarification/explanation & which are identical to unsourced statements made in Caxton main article. Suggest that 2nd paragraph be deleted, & Caxton article be updated. --AnalyticalHistoricalHobbyist (talk) 18:03, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
