J. Sholto Douglas edit

I am not convinced that J. Sholto Douglas is the same person as Major Henry James Sholto Douglas as indicated by the reference to http://www.thepeerage.com/p39658.htm#i396573, mainly because his name appears to be John Sholto Douglas! I believe J. Sholto Douglas to be Major John Sholto Douglas (39267), The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), who was awarded the Polish Military Cross in 1943. A letter exists (in Poland) linking the Sholto Douglas in Cairo with the Sholto Douglas who served in Poland up til a week before the Second World War.

Does this invalidate the statement 'Sholto Douglas's father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been soldiers'? Shipsview (talk) 11:27, 11 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

It might do - removing it as not necessary in any case. Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:03, 11 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
It seems that he was indeed part of that family, the 17th Laird of Tilquhillie born 1 March 1904, educated at Wadham College, Oxford and commissioned into the Royal Scots in 1926. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:21, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
