Re "Did you know" edit

No, I did not know, yet I have often wondered. We non-microbiologists often get the vague impression that there are always limitations to every method of killing microbes (heat, cold, lipid breakdown via soap, dessication, antiseptics, antibiotics, and on and on), but are usually left clueless as to the details. This helps us understand some of the "why". Thanks so much for the article! — ¾-10 19:46, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Title edit

This page appears because the general word "cyst" is taken entirely by medical uses.

"Microbial cyst" is not really broad enough to cover all the types of cyst found in general biology. Certainly it is misleading to use it for the survival cysts found in some nematodes and many rotifers (no doubt there are also cysts in some other groups). "Cyst (biology)" would be more encompassing. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:04, 10 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
