I've removed these. The sources cited in the references give a thorough account of the facts, and don't disagree. Or does every sentence of the article need a footnote with a reference to the same page of the same book? C0pernicus (talk) 12:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but there are thee contentious statements which need to be verified. --Ambrosius007 (talk) 13:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are you disputing the sources, or have you just not bothered to consult them? C0pernicus (talk) 16:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found this page while watching a documentary film of the italian state television (RAI, it:La Storia siamo noi) named "Russicum" (you can watch the full version in http://www.lastoriasiamonoi.rai.it, "L'Archivio" section); it presents as uncontroversial that:
1. D'Herbigny en route to Moscow under the pretext of an Easter pastoral visit to western European Catholics resident in the Soviet capital, he received episcopal ordination in secret and behind closed doors from Eugenio Pacelli (the future Pope Pius XII), the Papal Nuncio in Berlin
2. In Moscow, D'Herbigny conferred episcopal orders on Pie Eugène Neveu and two other priests
It also says Michel d'Herbigny promoted the foundation of Collegium Russicum

sorry, but I could not find any english translation... --151.65.229.234 (talk) 22:03, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. The same information is given by all the sources I've cited in the article, and by a number of others, and the facts do not appear to be in doubt. Mr Ambrosius is piqued because I pointed out a blunder in his article on the Vatican and Eastern Europe, that's all. Somebody else can verify the sources; I've no interest in getting sucked into a feud. C0pernicus (talk) 23:25, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Trojan horse" edit

The reference to Stehle is vague, since inaccessible -are we to understand that the whole section Episcopal Title is taken from Stehle? The bit about the Trojan Horse is unclear. Troy was destroyed by the Trojan Horse, which was an artifact of the Greeks, the enemies of Troy. Is the implication that d'Herbigny was destroyed by the treachery of his enemies?--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 15:30, 29 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
