Not a vegan

edit

I reverted this edit [1]. Huemer eats oysters and other bivalves, he calls this "Ostroveganism" which has been described as a type of new omnivorism. In a recent interview he also said he eats shrimp and elsewhere he said he has no issue with honey or insect consumption. It is WP:OR to say he has defended veganism. Eating bivalves is not vegan [2]. There is not any good sourcing describing Huemer as a vegan. Psychologist Guy (talk) 00:04, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Could we instead say he has defended vegetarianism?[1] JJPMaster (she/they) 18:33, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
If we go by correct terminology, vegetarianism is meat-free and vegetarians do not eat oysters or other bivalves. Huemer in reality is a pescetarian. The problem is there is a lack of reliable sources that describe his diet. Ostroveganism has been defined as a type of "new omnivorism". Psychologist Guy (talk) 19:07, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, what we're discussing is if Huemer has defended vegetarianism/veganism, not if he personally practices it. In that op-ed I cited, he does in fact defend the vegetarian position. JJPMaster (she/they) 16:22, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
In his book Dialogues on Ethical Vegetarianism published a year later in 2019 he defends ostroveganism. It is likely to confuse readers if we add an older source from 2018 saying he defends vegetarianism. In this recent interview he describes his position as "mostly vegan" then goes on to defend eating oysters, scallops and shrimp, at 2:52 he says he eats eggs [3]. What he defends is obviously the same as what he eats. For example he talks about how it is fine to eat animals without nervous systems. We have sourcing on his ostroveganism, I don't think we should add an older source on vegetarianism. Psychologist Guy (talk) 18:22, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wait, where has Huemer said he eats shrimp? Got a link? 2406:7400:98:5A0E:7948:668:EA81:452E (talk) 18:14, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
