Ridership, new station edit

This old station has decent ridership compared to its neighbors, but is low for being what would seem to be a major city station. It's actually not even in the Miami proper, it's far from downtown, and relatively disconnected. The new Miami Airport Station is also in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, but is better connected. However, it may not have any significant amount of Amtrak parking, giving its tighter quarters. Also to be fair when looking at ridership, consider that South Florida is the Miami metropolitan area/"Miami area", and when you take the next five stations up to Palm Beach (Hollywood, FTL, Deerfield, Delray, WPB), the annual ridership for all of them is between 250,000 and 300,000. By comparison, Albany–Rensselaer station, the farthest within reasonable distance to NYC, has over 800,000 riders, and the three major stations to the west (Syracuse Rochester Buffalo all about 1 million metro area population), as well as stations south of Albany down to Metro-North territory, all have over 100,000 riders. NYPenn has 10 million annual Amtrak riders, mainly from NE Corridor. The stations from the relatively fast north leg up to Albany are for minor cities, but have high ridership due to NYC access. The western leg stations are 5 to 8 hours from the city, but still pull a lot of riders compared to similar cities not in the northeast. "Urban" SFL with six million people barely doubles the annual ridership of small one million metro areas in New York. Though Tri-Rail overlap plays a huge role, as does Metro North for the last Amtrak two stations just north of NY Penn. B137 (talk) 00:06, 26 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes I post to remind myself of things. I'm not new here and many talk pages I comment on get little to no views or user traffic. I'm so certain that it does no harm, but am open to being proven wrong. Until then, it would do a great disservice to delete my ramblings. 03:18, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
