Misdroy

I've noticed that a large number of English-language articles refer to the town as Misdroy. This name was used by English tourists that came here during the times of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. Wouldn't it be more suitable to name the article by its English equivalent since it's English Wikipedia? Similar example has been done with Warsaw. I'm not seeing it. All the tour guides and such call it Miedzyzdroje. Warsaw is sort of an exception. Volunteer Marek  11:44, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

How is Warsaw an exception? The English term for Warsaw was coined over 400 years ago. Międzyzdroje was founded with the contribution of the English in the 18th-century who named it, hence the letter "y" instead of "j" in the German equivalent name. There are no English names for other Polish cities with the exception of Kraków, which is Cracow. Moreover, the Polish name is difficult for English-speakers or readers, and because this is English Wikipedia, shouldn't it be referred to by its English term? Wrocław on Italian Wikipedia is called 'Breslavia' and in German Wikipedia Kraków appears as 'Krakau' and Gdańsk appears as 'Danzig'. It is simply called Międzyzdroje by English travel guides because the former English name has faded with time due to Communist influence and propaganda. Look, all I'm doing is making life easier for English users and English readers. If you look at Mumbai and Bombay, both names are utilised. Plus this Indian city is a metropolis and it's name is quite important on a global scale. This is not some process of glorifying former German names or anything to do with that. If the name was only German, I wouldn't even hesitate to protest it, same as I protested from changing Szczecin into Stettin a few years back. And no, Misdroy is not a fully ethnic German name, as stated in the history section which I expanded with references. It's like you're opposing the change from Województwo zachodniopomorskie into West-Pomeranian Voivodeship....it's an English equivalent, same as Misdroy. Another example is the English name of Pomorze which is Pomerania, yet it is still accepted. Look at the articles Pomerania and Pomeranian Voivodeship.... Additionally, all the travel guides are based on other secondary database and internet sources so I wouldn't call them reliable. Valid sources would come from the town's official website or books, where it states the English influence on the town. By the way, if you look carefully, some of these "fabulous" travel guides or English articles provide quite false information, for example, I have encountered three separate articles claiming that Bolesław III Wrymouth was king.
