Needs an article? edit

Does this little community actually merit a separate article? —SlamDiego←T 05:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Consensus is that all verifiable places are inherently notable, and thus warrant an article. However, there are concerns that this is not an actual place, but rather a nickname for another community. I found this source, which mentions the governor of Illinois traveling to Mexico, Illinois, so it seems to be a real community. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:19, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, no. You misread "Governor George H. Ryan today announced that he will be traveling to Mexico, Illinois' second largest trading partner, and meeting with President Ernesto Zedillo and President-elect Vicente Fox." --John Nagle (talk) 15:32, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whoops, that I did. Apologies, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:47, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The original version of the article referred to a US Geological Survey entry, which in turn refers to
Hauser, Philip M. and Evelyn M. Kitigawa, editors; Local Community Fact Book for Chicago 1950. Chicago, Illinois : University of Chicago, 1953. p258
This seems, then, to be a genuine place. If consensus really supports the madness of an article on every verifiable place, then this article should stand. —SlamDiego←T 01:33, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Indeed. However, while all verifiable places have been deemed inherently notable, borderline verifiability is usually dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Thus, it might be best to revert the redirecting of the article, and send it to AFD. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 01:42, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I hate to think how many AfDs could result from dealing with articles about this sort of place. —SlamDiego←T 07:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
