International symbol

We are having a discussion at Template talk:Dollar sign#Mexican peso error? for what symbol should be used in an international context for the Mexican peso . Other countries have something like A$ (Australian dollar, C$ (Canadian dollar), NT$ (Taiwan dollar) and US$ (US dollar). The article has Mex$ but this doesn't seem to be a real thing, or at least not an official thing. Suggestions? Pointers to official documents?  Stepho  talk  22:22, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

No answers? I thought M$ might work. I have seen it in internet searches but also seen conflicts with French (18 M$ means 18 million US dollars) and some text books use M$ for import dollars (usually US). So I would not use M$. Mex$ and MX$ seem to have reasonable representation on currency websites - although neither is official to my knowledge. Thoughts.  Stepho  talk  21:56, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
