Talk:Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker/Archive 1

Are we just calling him "Big Boss" until the game tells us otherwise?

Just wondering. SuperSonicTH (talk) 23:06, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

The Kojima Productions E3 special site refers to him as "Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss" and then just as Big Boss. Since Big Boss is the character's common name it'll work. TH1RT3EN talkcontribs 00:01, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

He declares himself as Big Boss in the newest trailer, and that's a fairly significant moment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.41.209.226 (talk) 17:10, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Do we have confirmation on the four players solely being Big Bosses?

I know the trailers only have Big Boss as the players, but do we have official confirmation it's only Big Boss? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.51.147.40 (talk) 04:34, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Can someone put the Europen date in

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be released on May 28th, 2010, in the United Kingdom. From the sounds of it that will more than likely be the North American release date as well, but that is not confirmed. Hideo Kojima spoke to the announced date,

Metal Gear Solid fans should prepare themselves for the next chapter of Snake’s story. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will answer many of the series’ unanswered questions and showcase a different, more collaborative side to tactical espionage. May 27th is when Snake’s story continues… Hopefully Snake's story will continue in North America then, especially considering that's where the series preforms best. We'll just have to wait for confirmation on that one though.

Richard Nixon reference

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

A certain anon has been putting up stuff about the game's supposed connections with President Nixon's resignation and has even bitched about it being removed many times, even on my talk page. I wonder where are the refs. Word of advice, find the refs, then put it in. Until then, don't edit. --Eaglestorm (talk) 16:14, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I re-removed his addition, even though it was cited this time because it was written in a tone that sounded like an advertisement for the game than something that belonged in a neutral objective encyclopedia.
At the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, Kojima stated that President Richard Nixon's resignation during August 1974 may be factored into the game's story-line. Kojima also stated: Solid Snake's storyline has ended with MGS4. But there's still a lot more when it comes to Naked Snake's storyline. The Cold War was a time where people, neither good nor evil, were manipulated by various factors, and they became good or evil. The same goes for Naked Snake, and we'll get to see just what happened to him. Kojima also stated that there will be flashbacks to events from MGS3 and that the game's theme will be nuclear deterrence.
It sounds like the guy who wrote that is telling you "buy the upcoming new game and see what happens". Some of the statements are supposedly quoted from Kojima, but the editor didn't even bother to put quotation marks to indicate it. Jonny2x4 (talk) 17:53, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

This was said a the TGS game Show get over and stop being . Think about other people who are fans of the Metal Gear Solid series --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 11:38, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621.

Whitmore, you just don't get it, do you? 'think about other people who are fans'...yaddayaddayadda What kind of reasoning is that? This article was not created just for the fans per your want, and the revisions you've made even as an IP sock adds little to the article.--Eaglestorm (talk) 14:29, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I agree, the information is pointless, and not written like a wikipedia entry should be written. --SST1337 (talk) 21:51, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Fine then I don't care that was the plot Eaglstorm from the english Peace Walker demo you know as long as the CIA part stayed in I would not mind but you just have to make things harder thanks for giving me a hard time.
It took you like what, three months to see the writing on the wall, despite editing from multiple IPs? you're one big headache--Eaglestorm (talk) 16:06, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey whitmore, why don't you just stop trying other tacks in putting stuff about Liquid and Nixon? We're not here to put in every last brainfart that Kojima said at game shows. Try reading WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Personally, I'd wait until the game is released before we put in more.--Eaglestorm (talk) 09:49, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Eaglestorm thats nice stop making changing my edits what is your problem. I am a fan of MGS and that was something interesting about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whitmore 8621 (talkcontribs) 10:54, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
No, you stop it. You've been putting this for the last four months even when it is not needed, and saying that you're a fan indicates your being a fanboy. Go to Snake Soup or just concentrate on your Bentleigh Victoria stuff. --Eaglestorm (talk) 15:33, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

It's not needed - perhaps when there's enough for an actual plot section it might make more sense, but for now it shouldn't be put in there. He says it would "may be factored into the game's story-line" which just isn't enough to make it notable. I would bookmark the reference in case more information comes out and it ends up as a big part of the plot, but for now we have no idea if it's a major story piece, let along if it's confirmed to be in. --Teancum (talk) 17:38, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Teancum, notability has absolutely no effect on this sort of article content, only on article inclusion. Anyway, the way I'm reading this source suggests that such information would be helpful to the article in establishing the historical setting. It may only be a "this may happen" but its verifiable, which is permissable under WP:CRYSTAL. I'd say that a quick sentence attached to the end of story section would be justifiable, something like: "the game is set against the backdrop of the Cold War; key events in 1974 such as the Watergate scandal are intended to [or some other non-definite phrase] play a role in the story." Placed within the full context of the setting, the example is more informative, rather than something that just says "Nixon's resignation from the presidency will be referenced", which comes off as trivial. -- Sabre (talk) 20:11, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

This is getting in the way of maintaining the article, so I recommend taking up the argument of WP:IAR we're not improving this article by arguing this, and per content, I don't think any other developer has taken the pursuit of taking the Nixon resignation to their plotline and the Verifiable, secondary and reliable source did say it would factor into the game's storyline from Kojima himself even. I emphasize verifiability because that's what we have here, despite the other's inability to accept this content. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:17, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Alright I will stop with the Nixon and Liquid Snake edits. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 05:12, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

GOOD, and it seems I don't have to bother with your rants on my talk page-it's probably a carbon copy of your diatribes here. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from editing this article and I'm willing to stick this, but it'd be appreciated if this will be the last time you will try putting those stuff in - even through other tacks. You've forced our hands too much whitmore, you and your IP socks.--Eaglestorm (talk) 13:26, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh Eaglestorm I never said anything about not ediiting peace walker again but since the page is locked. It all works out for me happily for now but if the lock comes off I wil continue to edit even if it gets you pissed off. Thanks for a being a dictator and a jerk and a cyber bully. "THIS IN NOT OVER OR RESLOVED" yours sincerly --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 08:24, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621 MY INFORMATION WAS SOURCED AT LEAST I DID THAT. I DO NOT LIKE MY INFORMATION BEING ERASED THEIR IS A LOT OF STUFF FROM GAMEPLAY THAT IS NOT NEDDED THERE AND THE METAL GEAR WIKI USES THE SAME INFORMATION I USED. I A SOMEWHAT HAPPY THE PAGE IS BLOCKED NOW. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 13:03, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

All editors here need to seriously be careful of WP:NPA. You're letting your anger make this personal. --Teancum (talk) 20:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Cyber-bully? Whatever. I'm not taunting anybody, but it seems you just got blocked...and you had it coming. As for Metal Gear Wiki, we don't need too much fancruft from there clouding it here. --Eaglestorm (talk) 04:14, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
yeah well Im not blocked anymore and yeah whatever you say.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 11:44, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621.

Ok then we will not include stuff from the Metal Gear wiki from now on. However when the game is released the plot could get more detail added into it. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 01:17, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

Why Can't I remove the sentences or things I Have said  ?--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 11:45, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

The information I added into Peace Walker was sourced at least I was trying to help by contributing to this encyclopedia.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 08:55, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

Hey whitmore, enough with the incessant ramblings! Geez, can't you just let go? As for the plot, yes, more detail may be possible after the game is released, but it would be preferred that you have no part in it. You've already created a ruckus with above items, and frankly, I couldn't apply AGF on you anymore, not after what you've done. Wikipedia has more articles that are worth your attention, why not work on them? JUST. STOP. I'm locking this thread down, and it would be better if you do not start another one even resembling this.--Eaglestorm (talk) 05:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Ok thats fair enough.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 15:51, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

Ok thats fine but I am still going edit Peace Walker even If you do not like it this editing of mine Eaglestorm. I edit alot of things on Wikipedia Think about the other people who like to know something about a upcoming game or TV show. You could do things the easy way and accept my editing or the hard way and you Eaglestorm had to start a edit war over this. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 06:05, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621. Im sick and tired of this please just stop it. Why can't you think about other people who want to know about the game. Eaglestorm you won't do things the easy way you have to do things the hard way. You don't let me edit at all like with the Peace Walker gameplay section. Why?--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 12:34, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621 I will edit the Story of the game when it is released. Eaglestorm you do not own the rights to this article. You are not the Boss of editing this article or the boss of Me. I am just frustrated because I was doing something to help and I get into trouble for it. I also have this thing called the I Don't Care Policy and I don't care about you Ealgestorm or what your problem is. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 13:29, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

Can I just point out that edit warring rules apply to talk pages too? If there is disagreement about closing a discussion, then it is too early to close it. Don't edit war over the position of a "closed" tag, or over a typo correction. This is a very silly edit war, consider this a warning, and stop. Thank you, --Taelus (talk) 08:41, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

CIA-Story

In the Peace Walker demo Professor Galvez says to Snake and Miller about the CIA backing the mysterious armed group. I believe this should stay in the story because if it is said by a character and in a preview or trailer and is sourced it should stay on the page. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 09:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

And you expect it to be here because you believe? That's OR by the way, and not allowed. --Eaglestorm (talk) 10:39, 10 March 2010

(UTC)

The CIA are confirmed to be in the story becuase of the demo and the preview why can't it be left in. If it is kept out of the article thats fine, I am sorry for the trouble I have caused. I was just trying to help.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 06:53, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

The Peace Walker

Do you guys have any images over the Peace Walker? Even a screen of the trailer would be helpful, I only recently found out it was a Metal Gear. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 23:33, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Did you check the Kojipro website? we'd need the proper fair-use rationale for it. Anyway, let's wait for the game to be released. Hopefully, Konami would release pictures of the mech. --Eaglestorm (talk) 00:41, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
KojiPro? No I didn't, but I'm good if you need a fair-use first. Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 00:48, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Gameplay references

Don't have time to zap these atm but they are based on demo gameplay which is unrepresentative. The four equipment layouts for example, Konami have stated is only for the demo. If I don't get chance, can someone replace these with verified information, or at least disclaimers about the demo being the origin? -Rushyo —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.183.49 (talk) 10:39, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
