Harvard degree claim edit

The article states that Tate was "first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in government and international relations from Harvard University (then Radcliffe College)...".

She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1941, but Radcliffe did not start offering joint Harvard-Radcliffe diplomas until 1963. Unfortunately, this assertion has been reported by third-party sources, so fixing it here might be considered original research. I'll leave it in until I get the chance to work on some better sourcing. — Satori Son 15:06, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Western Michigan University claim edit

Similarly, this article states she was the first African American female graduate of Western State Teachers College. In fact, there were earlier graduates of the institution who earned a four year degree. Several graduates earned teaching certificates even earlier.
