SOHC edit
okay, according to the page on the Austro-Daimler 6 it was an SOHC engine, it calls it "the Austro-Daimler SOHC", the main difference being the front mounted cam drive shaft. Yet this page claims this engine was developed from "the pushrod Austro-Daimler 6" linking to that page. Which is it? Idumea47b (talk) 00:52, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- There is a lack of clarity in both articles, also very few citations in this one. Early versions of the Austro-Daimler 6 had pushrod operated valves (OHV), the Beardmore 120 hp was a licensed-built version and the Beardmore 160 hp was a development. Later Austro-Daimlers (200 hp) were SOHC and quite different. The timescale of introduction of the D.II (1914) would mean that comparison would be to the earlier OHV Austro-Daimler 6. - I made some changes to the Austro-Daimler article (removed SOHC from lead as only later versions were, changed lead image to early OHV engine and split a paragraph that said the engine had both pushrods and SOHC). Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 05:43, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
