Name etymology i think the name comes from mne - water & duta - red > red water. don't understand the translation "where the waters meet." tpk (talk) 14:28, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

The article says that "Mendota" means the joining of rivers. The historical plaque says it meanes "the mouth of a river". Are both correct?
