Alright, I would just like to add, being a resident here that Mendota's ethnic makeup is about 50% white and about 40% hispanic latino and the other races make up the other 10 percentile. And the sweet corn festival's vibrant and colorfull atmosphere attracks a large number of people from california. If you know what I mean (San fransisco's lower 9th ward). Really people? Are we going to vandalize a reputable discussion area with our immature comments? I was born in Mendota. It is a friendly town & can be whatever you make of it. They have alot of sporting events & alot of other kinds of events too. They take pride in their town & town's people. I don't agree that the Lake smells like a jock strap... it smells like any other lake would smell, like fish. There are quite a few parks for kids to play. Most of the downtown area features historic buildings. Mendota holds a train station & train museum. Alot of the houses are Victorian, very beautiful. The area churches really help the little city out. Mendota holds great food & festive fun all year round! There are quite a few factories in the area... so there is opportunity. We have alot of little shops & down to earth, hometown buisnesses. The residential area isn't very expensive, which is nice, especially with children. Arctic Monkeys

My addition of an "In Popular Culture" subheading and a cited entry about them recording a music video in Mendota were removed citing relevance. The Arctic Monkeys are a VERY well known band, I'm curious as to what makes it irrelevant. Would someone care to explain this?

Perhaps if you re read the edit summary, you will see that is not what I said. What I said is you have failed to show the relevance outside the local community. You would do this by citing a reliable source that discusses this event from a distant city, say Atlanta, Detroit or Seattle. This article's purpose is not to discuss what is important in Mendota. Rather it is to discuss what is important about Mendota to the rest of the world. John from Idegon (talk) 21:15, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
