Franchise Lineage
editThe Memphis Redbirds are not related to the Springfield Redbirds or Louisville Redbirds of the American Association from (1978-1997) as implied here. The Louisville Redbirds moved to the International League and were renamed the Louisville RiverBats (now the Bats). As I understand it, the current Memphis team was a brand new franchise added to the Pacific Coast League in 1998 as an expansion franchise. --Leshii 04:41, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Does anyone have a source for this? I wasn't following the team that closely at the time, but I always thought the Redbirds had moved to Memphis, with Louisville getting a new team, the (River)Bats. But I could be wrong. 74.137.122.236 05:11, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- check the annual Memphis Baseball Encyclopedia. It is the history of Memphis baseball from 1859-present. jjguinozzo@gmail.com 2600:1700:44A0:5270:D9BA:FCB9:E0AE:DDF4 (talk) 17:56, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
