I am not a religious believer. I am not even a Christian; I am a secular Jew. But I was a longtime viewer of Dr. Gene Scott before his death, and now of his widow, Melissa. Even for a nonbeliever like me, they have always given me something intellectually stimulating to think about. I believe Pastor Melissa Scott is worthy of a Wikipedia page. I'm not the one to write it, but I hope someone more knowledgeable and better qualified will step forward. In the meantime, I've removed the deletion notice. Let's at least let this stub page survive until someone can expand it into something more substantive. Dodiad (talk) 10:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Should we include that she used to be a porn star? Barbie Bridges. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.133.134 (talk) 06:27, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems to me that part or WP's mission is to be a quick resource on Topics of Interest. The "Pastor" is unusual and noteworthy public figure found on Television and is an interesting instance of the Televangilist phenomenon. TSAlleycat (talk) 12:13, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, sometimes the measure of the person's past is an indication of how far they have gone to reach the present. Let's also remember that in the Bible women of dark pasts have overcome and become positive examples. I say keep Melissa Scott's history. Besides, best to disclose your dark secrets and leave them behind rather than fight to hide them and have them forever chase you. Ryckster (talk) 09:06, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know nothng of this woman's past. I know only that from time to time, while clicking through my limited cable channels, I see her. I stop occasionally and listen. I find her to be a literate person, trying to present the bible as clearly and fairly as possible.

Since I do not watch often, and am rather illiterate in the bible, even in my native tongue (English), I cannot vouch for her fairness or scholarship. I can say, after watching her for about twenty or thirty hours, that she seems to me to be a person who tries to expose the earliest and fairest interpretations of the bible that she can find, to those who will listen and care.

A roman catholic by birth and agnostic by choice, I have no interest in promoting this woman as a good, proper or even enthusiastic presenter of the truth of the bible. I can only say that from my limited knowledge, my early indoctrination and my later understanding, I trust this woman's attempts at explanation and presentation, in multiple tongues, of the earliest (as far as she can find -- which is certainly more detailed than I know [though very likely so esoteric that I am unable to judge her intent]) iterations of the presentations of the 'true' language of this book.

How anyone who has watched this woman's televised work can find that there is no good reason for a wikipedia page dedicated to this woman (excepting the intent of the believers of others to gag orators who do not conform to their own beliefs) is beyond my reasonable understanding.

Please, keep a wikipedia page devoted to this woman's work.
