I looked on Ancestry for any information relating to Melbourne Tierney and found him in the Electoral Register 2003-2010. He was living in Denton, Greater Manchester and his birth date is given as between 1921 and 1923. This still fits as his birth was likely very late in 1923 and so wouldn't have been registered until early 1924. I can't find any evidence that he has passed.
