There are is some discussion about the correct identification of the organism in the photo going on a the TAXACOM discussion list. You can read it here:
I should note, however, that even the photo presently linked may NOT be Melangyna viridiceps - it does not appear to be Simosyrphus, however, which the other photos were (the yellow scutellum, at least, is a very obvious feature). Dyanega (talk) 17:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
