Questionable information edit

There is a volume at Google Books, A Brief Account of the Mechitaristican Society Founded on the Island of St. Lazaro By Haroutiun Aukerian which tends to contradict some of the material in this page. In particular Mechitar seems to have been motivated mainly by a desire to improve the education of Armenians, not by pro- or anti-Catholic motives. Roger Pearse 16:41, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Mekhitarin edit

I've heard that this order makes a liquor they call "Mekhitarin." They found it written in an old Armenian manuscript. I haven't been able to find any information about it. All I have is the word of my professor who has visited the Vienna monastery several times. If you have a source that mentions it, please note it here. :) --72.129.121.101 (talk) 01:28, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

According to Google Ngram "Mekhitarists" is more commonly used than "Mechitarists" which is evidently the Italian spelling. --Երևանցի talk 21:09, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
