AfD Result edit

Comments edit

New article on Temporary Page.

I don't see any trace of a copyvio at the alleged source, so have reverted the tag. The article on the /Temp subpaeg was identical to the main article, so I will delete it. -Splashtalk 19:01, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I got confused by the inplace rewrite being the smae as the /Temp version. I've removed the infringing revisions from the main article's history, and left the /Temp page deleted. -Splashtalk 19:04, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

References? edit

I've got some serious doubts on the reliability of this article. Never heard of link between Yemen and Berbers, but this assertion:

The written language of Sheba was found in Oklahoma, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil. Most notable of these is at a site in Colorado, near La Junta, and has been dated to before 800 BC.

is frankly unbelievable. GhePeU 17:06, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Is this article a joke? Seriously, is it? D.E. Cottrell 18:12, 2 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

False from the start edit

Mahri language is a semitic language with no link to Armenian or any other indo-european language. Further, there was no such thing as an Armenian rule of Yemen!!!!

Real language edit

But the original article was junk. Anybody who wants to expand the stub might want to start researching here: http://semitistik.uni-hd.de/sima/english/yemen_e/index_e.htm

Mehri is Akkadian dialect edit

the Akkadian language is the only language from Semitic languages devoid from (Ayin letter) same thing with Mahri language..and in the Akkadian language the (He letter) replaced by voice (Shin letter) same thing with Mahri language... I find the Different between Akkadian language and Mahri like Different between two arabic dialects —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.139.192.222 (talk) 09:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

No reputable Semiticist would link Akkadian and a Modern South Arabian language. (Taivo (talk) 21:13, 9 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

Mehri is NOT Eastern Semitic edit

This assertion of ancient Eastern Semitic ancestry is simply nationalist propaganda. If you have a legitimate Semitic reference then give it here. Otherwise I will continue to undo your groundless, nonlinguistic edits trying to claim an ancient Akkadian heritage for the Modern South Arabian languages. This is akin to saying that English is really descended from Sanskrit instead of Proto-Germanic. (Taivo (talk) 17:34, 18 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

I'm still waiting for that legitimate reference on your claim that the Modern South Arabian languages are Eastern Semitic rather than South Semitic. Until you provide a legitimate linguistic source for that claim, I will continue to revert your edits claiming such. (Taivo (talk) 01:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC))Reply
Undone your silliness again. (Taivo (talk) 05:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC))Reply
Stop reverting, let someone add some information (if they have any) to backup claims. -- Al™ 04:01, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
This is an unscientific, undocumented claim that is being added. It has a political purpose and not a linguistic one. The person who continues to add this unscientific drivel has no scientific source for the material. If they had a scientific source, they would add a reference when they add the material. Since there is no scientific source, they cannot. (Taivo (talk) 05:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC))Reply
Let them add their scientific reference here. I will look at it. If it is legitimate, I will let the edit through, if not I won't let a linguistic article be used for nonlinguistic statements. (Taivo (talk) 05:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC))Reply
Once again reverted unsubstantiated and unscientific notion that Mehri is close to Akkadian. (Taivo (talk) 11:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC))Reply
In the article about Modern South Arabian languages, it claims that they are Eastern South Semitic, which seems weird to me - is it related to what's going on here? --Mahaodeh (talk) 09:19, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some Words from Mehri edit

It's a little weird that all three words in the "some words from Mehri" are Arabic. I'm sure there's a lot of crossover between the languages since Mehri exists in an Arabized environment, but shouldn't we pick Mehri words that don't come from Arabic for examples?
