Personal Life

To this date she has not dated anyone publicly. It was reported she went on a "date" with a Ron Paul supporter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.76.64.65 (talk) 16:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

weight

does anyone know how much she weighs?--Tookmoved123 (talk) 00:56, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

We don't normally put people's weight into articles, unless it's a direct aspect of their profession (e.g. Twiggy or John Cena). Wasted Time R (talk) 00:24, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Personally, I think that mentioning the number of twitter followers violates WP:V in the first place. We need secondary, reliable sources. The Squicks (talk) 23:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
The article's narrative gives the figure as of mid-April. If it's increased since then and is reported by a third-party source, then a later figure can be added as well. Wasted Time R (talk) 23:35, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Libertarianism?

"McCain has also described herself as a Republican who is "liberal on social issues"." Smells of libertarianism to me. :D Just thought I'd point that out. Racooon (talk) 21:40, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

As far as I know, she doesn't self-identify as a libertarian, and that's what we generally go by here when we describe people. Wasted Time R (talk) 23:53, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
She opposes abortion, and she believes that both gay and straight people alike should be monogamous. Some 'libertarian'...
But as Wasted Time R pointed out, we only peg people with labels when there are reliable sources to support such labeling. The Squicks (talk) 05:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Just because you are liberal on social issues, and conservative on economic issues (if she is even that) doesnt make one libertarian...for one, you have to be VERY LIBERAL on social issues, like government being totally hands off on not just sexual matters but also drug issues, basically no governement involvement in (victimless crimes, if you can call drug use that...which a libertarian would) and they should be very much opposed to any goverment action in economic activity...I dont think Megan is for tearing down every domestic government body. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.255.46.89 (talk) 07:05, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

The Arizona Law is Not an "Immigration" Law, but an "Illegal Immigration" Law

When people want to be dishonest about illegal immigration, they lump it in with America's wonderful history of being formed by legal immigration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.149.170 (talk) 17:28, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Your change is now in the article. Wasted Time R (talk) 01:01, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Not 100% sure the involuntarily displaced natives of the continent would agree with our ancestors' immigration as "legal", but that's besides the point. - Drlight11 (talk) 03:29, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Hottie

I mean, technically she is a hottie. Why are we removing this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.196.131.205 (talk) 03:40, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

How can someone technically be a hottie? Is there some strict mathematical definition of "hottie" that I am not aware of? Joking aside, a description of the subject of an article as a "hottie" isn't really encyclopaedic. Wolfrock (talk) 04:50, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
"Hottie" isn't even a word, and should have no place in any encyclopedia article, except maybe an entry on slang terms used by hipsters in 1991. One could probably find bona fide sources indicating that she is widely reputed to be physically attractive...but why bother? The reader can judge that for him or her self. Religion

The article and sources state that she attended a Catholic school. Her father was raised Episcopalian, however, and is now a Baptist like her mother. Is Meghan Christian? Does anyone know or have a source? --Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 20:33, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't know. But 20% of the students at Xavier College Prep are non-Catholic, so don't assume anything from that. Wasted Time R (talk) 21:10, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
User:Willthacheerleader18: She said on Howard Stern that she was raised as a Baptist. It's on youtube, but not an easy source to cite.Zigzig20s (talk) 14:35, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Quote from Meghan McCain regarding Anti-Abortion Views

Apologize in advance if this has been discussed. I'm newbie to editing WikiPedia articles. I searched for some mention of this in past edits, but could not find anything. I guess I really need to do some tutorials on how to edit or comment.

There is a quote that appears in this article that makes no sense to me:

She has expressed an opinion that conservatives demonstrate hypocrisy regarding abortion: "They go on and on about how evil and wrong abortion is, but don't like to talk about how easy it is to not get pregnant."[14]

I don't know if it makes sense to anyone else. I wonder even if the original source got it wrong... because although the word "not" appears in the original source, and is italicized for emphasis, as if it belongs there, it simply renders the rest of the sentence.... well... non-sensical. The sentence would make sense if the word "not" were removed. The way the quote currently appears (with the word "not") is not an example of hypocrisy. It would demonstrate hypocrisy if the word "not" were removed.

Is there perhaps some other quote in the public record that could convey the essence of Meghan McCain's complex views.

TreeDoctor (talk) 18:39, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

I interpreted the "not get pregnant" part of the quote as referring to conservatives' reticence to widen access to contraception. I agree though that a reader might have to squint/re-read the quote to come up with that interpretation, which (lacking context here as it does) might not even be accurate. I further agree that, given MM's considerable history on television, there must be something that more succinctly sums up her opinion. As is, that quote could easily be construed as "conservatives talk about abortion a lot, but they should really be talking about abstinence." Maybe that's what she meant, but I doubt it.
