BP or B2k edit
The citations saying 4200 BP (i.e. before 1950) are based on the ICU announcement on 13 July 2018 [1] saying "Meghalayan (4200 yr before 1950)". It seems that the ICU corrected this five days later on 13 July 2018 [2] by saying "Meghalayan (4200 yr b2k) - The Meghalayan extends to the present not to 1950." - 10:45, 1 February 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.81.78 (talk)
- That is again half-correct. "BP" is NOT simply "before 1950", as everybody could read at least in the chapters about radiocarbon dating, if one can read, what obviously nearly all geologists can NOT. In fact it is "uncalibrated Libby-years before 1950" and MUST be calibrated into calibrated calender years. Everything else is simply mistaken. If simple-minded geologists use "BP" in its literal sense as "before today" they have to define, what they mean by "today", because this point in time changes continuoulsly.
