Shouldn't the pragraph talking about "somatosensory transduction" actually refer to the "projection pathway" for mechanoreceptors? AFAIK "transduction" refers just to the transmission of the signal from the receptor cell to the CNS. (see the transduction (physiology) article). Ruffini corpuscles

edit

According to my AP textbook, this is not true: "In primates, Ruffini corpuscles are only found in fingernail beds, and then only rarely." Nothing I Googled agreed with this statement at all. And the Wiki article on RCs contradicts it as well. 66.26.95.207 (talk) 17:22, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

anthropocentric?

edit

This article seems a bit human-centered, should there be a new article about general mechanoreceptors, or should this article be re-written for other animals in mind? i.e., Johnston's organ & Mechanosensory... Rhetth (talk) 22:38, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

My generalization segment below might address this. 137.124.161.31 (talk) 21:11, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Generalize Mechanoreceptor to Mechanoreception

edit

There is an article on Electroreception that discusses "electroreceptor(s)" as a sub-topic. Perhaps this article should be renamed to Mechanoreception and then "mechanoreceptor(s)" can be discussed as a sub-topic. 137.124.161.31 (talk) 21:11, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
