Nef
editAlthough the ship does seem to be a carrack, an early form of galleon, and a carrack in French (only) is a "nef", the sense in English in which this is a "nef" is Nef (metalwork) - a ship table ornament. The writer of the BM Highlights entry does not seem entirely clear about the distinction, although the longer collection database entry is. Johnbod (talk) 03:01, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
