Talk:Meat grinder

Latest comment: 3 years ago by Guyy8fh in topic Regarding "mincing knife"

"finely shredding into bits" is redudant. Shredding, in culinary terms, is different from grinding. I think bits is also a colloquialism, so I'm going to edit that part out.

I am not happy with "Frozen meat grinders can process frozen blocks of meat, bacon and mechanically separated meat up to –25 °C. The frozen blocks can range from 90x50x15 cm to 90x50x20 cm" That seems to imply that it is impossible to process forozen meat outside that range.

Also: "and the power applied from 8.000 kg to 12.000 kg"

the "kg" is not a measure of power. What does that statement even mean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.36.223.243 (talk) 01:49, 23 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

"In some countries it is also known as a "Meat Mincer". In which coutries? 19:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm in the market for a manual meat grinder for my home kitchen. I see that they are numbered by, I assume, size. How is the size reflected in the number. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.233.150.27 (talk) 17:17, 14 June 2009 (UTC) The size refferes to the "opening" in front of the grinder, so its the size of the disc you put in there. --95.88.227.44 (talk) 01:38, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Exact date? edit

Can anyone cite the exact year when the grinder was introduced by Karl Drais? Other of his inventions are assigned dates between 1807 and 1821, but I was hoping for something more definite.--Crouchbk (talk) 21:02, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Regarding "mincing knife" edit

The Wiki page on the kitchen knife has a section claiming that "mincing knife" refers to mezzaluna. I've gone ahead and linked "mincing knife" in this article to the mezzaluna, but the page on the mezzaluna itself makes no mention of "mincing knives". I'm unclear as to whether this is satisfactory.
