Exact name of corporation

The exact name of the corp is McDonald's Corporation according to the SEC Filings. It would be good to use that name for the info box and mention it in the intro like on The Walt Disney Company page. — 99.230.177.147 (talk) 04:18, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

World's largest restaurant chain statement

The article states that McDonalds is the world's largest restaurant chain but this appears to untrue. The American submarine sandwich chain Subway has over 42,000 locations worldwide, nearly 10,000 more than McDonalds. Changing this statement in the article is a pretty serious step and I wanted to float it for discussion before making the change. Discussion? When did the McDonald brothers publish an autobiography? It is not mentioned on Richard_and_Maurice_McDonald.

I created the eBooks for [The Complete Hamburger] by their great-nephew, Ronald L. McDonald.

Ronald said Richard and Maurice did not publish an autobiography.

The Complete Hamburger includes a foreward by Richard J. McDonald, but no mention of his autobiography.

Google, Bing, Amazon searches did not find autobiography, either.

First unit

I believe the first restaurant opened in 1937 in Pasadena. It was a drive-in restaurant with carhops and inside seating. San Bernardino was the second unit. Apparently someone hacked into the corporate McDonald's Twitter account today and sent a scathing and highly insulting tweet to President Trump. Nickname

I removed the nickname McD and McKey D's. In Australia they called McDonald's as Macca and in Hong Kong as Chinese: 麥記; lit. 'Mak's'. The nickname was a regional culture unless a poplar nickname was provided with source to prove it is very notable in US, the origin of the company. Matthew_hk tc 09:05, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

This subsection contains language of dubious neutrality, and I have added both a neutrality tag and a peacock tag specifically to that section. My specific example of such is the quote on the right, emphasis mine:

As well, this subsection contains reference to the entirety of operations in McDonald's India, despite being under the Marketing section.

Largest Restaurant Chain

The Subway Restaurant page also states it is the "largest" chain in the world. Although there is not set criteria for what is "largest" it does seem contradictory. McDonald's has significantly less franchises, however, so I believe it would be wise to remove this statement. Citation Errors

Hi there. I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm doing an assignment for class where we find errors in the encyclopedia. The first error I've identified is citation #11. When clicked on, the link does not lead to the actual article in discussion but to the Yahoo homepage. The second error I've identified is in the section titled "Criticism," under the subheading "Environmental record." While cited, the second sentence in the last paragraph is copied almost word for word from the original text without the use of quotation marks and therefore a) is not paraphrased properly and b) violates Wikipedia's content guideline of plagiarism. --Sweiner8 (talk) 21:03, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Add to Criticisms/Environmental

McDonalds featured on the BBC Television Program - War on Plastic (Series 1 Episode 3). The program showed two children (Ella and Caitlin McEwan) presenting a petition signed by 168,000 people. The petition, which had been open online for 8 months, asked McDonalds and Burger King to stop providing plastic toys with their children's meals and to think of the environment. The company came under criticism for sending a security guard to ask the two children to leave the reception of their Head Office. The children were later allowed to submit their petition. The Untold Story

In 1960 I was living about three blocks from the Mission Drive-In, located on Mission Street, Riverside, California. It occupied a corner and had room for many cars. Then one day as I went to get a burger and fries, it was closed and never re opened, The salient thing about the drive-in was it's huge golden arches. Apparently McDonald's wasn't interested in the location only the golden arches.

I also knew a woman who worked at Dixie Cups in Riverside. She informed me that a Dixie Cup salesman name of Brown, had bought the McDonald's store in San Bernadino because he was impressed with their technique for making standard sized burgers. I assume that Ray Kroc bought the business, but neither of these show in the "official history" of course. Where are the nitty-gritty facts? Why is there no mention of their bad food practices?

I couldn't help but notice that if you read this article, you wouldn't know of McDonald's predatory advertising practices, their disgusting food making procedures, and their carcinogenic money saving ingredients... It's almost as if persons from McDonald's campaign are constantly keeping this page free from unfavorable facts. I think it is imperative, no, necessary that this article be expanded to reflect the MANY negative aspects of McDonald's food and consumption. If at the very least to say, "this is what was argued in X and Y court cases."

I'm appalled that this page is so favorable to McDonald's.

Where is there any mention of how they used to mash whole chickens to make pink pulp used for their nuggets?

Where is there any mention of all the additives and chemicals they put in their food to make it more addictive?

Where is there information on the cheap meats/ingredients they use to turn a massive profit?

Where is there mention of the browning agent they used in their fries and coffee being a carcinogen?

Why is this page so benign?

Please, someone work on this. Most youth should be able to do a quick search for McDonald's and know this harrowing and very real facts.

Section “Traces of faeces”: inaccurate generalization‽

The section regarding traces of faeces appears a bit suggestive, little do you know is that when your mum says no macdonald’s, it’s because she works there 😊 to the effect that it implies that traces of faecal bacteria were found in food or kitchen, whereas “merely” the kiosks touched by unclean customer hands were contaminated. What is a product of McD PR? I didn’t check sources, I was merely refering to what’s stated in the current version of the article. There is a source cited, and I hope it backs the claims of the section. If you sillily jump to allegations that prematurely, I hope you also mind the other extreme, namely not to overreach one-off occurrences without well-founded sources, which I find is the case in the current form: butt-scratching customers touched publicly accessible screens in one city, and the ToC entry suggests general traces of faeces around the lemma. -- Gohnarch^░ 17:34, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

In opening paragraph it incorrectly states that the "original" HQ was in Oak Brook. I'm challenging this edit by User:Bill Wong on 22 February 2018 as inaccurate -- specifically, the addition of what is purported to be the McDonald's logo from 1940 until 1948. The problem with that image is that the first line appears to be typeset in ITC Zapf Chancery and the second line appears to be typeset in Helvetica Narrow. Neither typeface family was designed until well after 1948. (I can recognize over 20 typeface families by sight, down from over 50 when I was younger.)

The original McDonald's logo as displayed on the original menu is easily found within a few minutes on Google. It is similar to the one in the article but rendered in typefaces that actually existed in the 1940s.
