3 articles for this?

edit

I was doing a bit of research into early Hearts players and obviously this topic looms large. After adding some detail to the McCrae's Battalion article, I noticed that there is a separate article for the memorial in France: McCrae's Battalion Great War Memorial. And there is also an article for Hearts F.C. and World War I. There is a lot of the same information replicated in each (some of which I am responsible for, but only because I was unaware of the presence of the other articles).

Whilst I totally respect the sensitivity of the matter and the public interest in it, are three separate articles really needed on the subject? I am putting the same message on the talk page for all three articles so hopefully anyone who may wish to comment would see it...Crowsus (talk) 04:23, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you're adding a list of names to this article, the Raith Rovers ref lists the seven relevant players: James H Logan, George McLay, Willie Porter, Willie Lavery, Jimmy Todd, Jimmy Scott and Jock Rattray. McLay, Scott and Todd died in the war, Lavery and Rattray survived it but I don't know about Logan and Porter. Ernest Ellis and Sandy Grosert are also listed under the category and both survived. Yeah thanks, I didn't know about the category (including the Raith guys etc) until I had added the list of Hearts players, just as I didnt know the Hearts+WWI article already had them listed. The non-Jambos are relevant to the battalion of course (so I have added a Raith Rovers category and one for Hibs) but I am hesitant to add them in text purely because I'm not sure how much should be added to this artile when others exist. Och, you know what, I will just add everyone from the category, not a very long list. I will try to find out what happened to Logan and Porter. PS Ellis definitely perished, unfortunately.Crowsus (talk) 23:02, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
My mistake, I was getting my Ellises and Dallases mixed up. John Dallas survived. Mutt Lunker (talk) 23:23, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

James H. Logan

edit

I have posted at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#James_H._Logan to try and unearth some information about the Raith Rovers captain, for which there seems to be no article, particularly as there is a risk of confusion with two similarly-named players, one of which also has ties to the club. The team captain and battalion member was James Henry Logan, the article was previously linked to James Merrilees Logan, the post-war Rovers manager was James Lochhead Logan.
