It's unclear that a new name justifies a new page. I personally found this highly confusing. — MaxEnt 00:17, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and will be merging the pages into this one - Mparrault (talk) 16:08, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Recommend removing 1992 "Historic" line item regarding Anil Wirasekara becoming Vice President edit

This feels like it was inserted as a resume booster, given countless other senior management and key technical staff also joined MDA in early 90s and are still with the company today. For example, the former President and CEO Dan Friedman rose to that rank in the mid 90s, however he isn't listed.

If the tenure of vice-presidents at MDA's/MAXAR's is considered worthwhile historic content, then I suggest adding the tenures of all C-level ranks and the VPs from all divisions. However, that would simply clutter the history; so I'm not suggesting that.

Corporate history should be agnostic of individuals (besides the founders), which it is except for this one apparent edit. Therefore the recommendation is to remove the line about Anil gaining Vice President status within the company in the 90s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.207.13.162 (talk) 01:42, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Split (2020): Recommend separating MDA and Maxar pages edit

The result of this discussion was to split off MDA (company)

As of April 8, 2020, Maxar has divested itself of MDA. This page should be updated accordingly. As most of the current content, is highly MDA centric since this started as an MDA page, I propose that this page be carried forward as an MDA page and that a new page for Maxar be created, or the DigitalGlobe page carried forward as the Maxar page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.73.16.9 (talk) 19:35, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

As of October 2020, it seems that nothing has happened to remedy this yet. After the divesture of the MDA assets from Maxar, the MDA portion is now called "MDA Corporation" and I believe that the references to MDA that currently point to the "Maxar Technologies" page should be updated to a new "MDA Corporation" page accordingly. These include links from the pages for "Spar Aerospace", "MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates", "MDA Corporation" and perhaps other references. How do we move this forward? Brantzmyers (talk) 19:58, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the redirect to become a new page for "MDA Corporation". It is in its infancy and needs a lot of work, but its a start. Please help build it out - thanks. Brantzmyers (talk) 22:42, 26 October 2020 (UTC) I have renamed the article MDA (company) - I asked their Marcom department and they just want to be called MDA, so this was the best way I could think of handling it for disambiguation purposes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brantzmyers (talkcontribs) 20:33, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Recommend eliminating "Founders" from company box edit

Company box lists MacDonald and Dettwiler as the founders. These two gentlemen were the founders of MDA in Canada. It may have made sense to list them as the founders of Maxar when MDA joined Digital Globe to become Maxar. But now that Maxar divested itself of the MDA components there is no justification for having them as founders. Similarly "Founded" date has to be reconsidered, as the date listed is when MDA was founded (MDA being the oldest of the former component pieces of Maxar). Spaceman13 (talk) 18:36, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've gone ahead and removed founder/founding date as it is now factually incorrect and it shows up on things like Google searches. The entire timeline should also be cleaned up at some point to focus on the history of Maxar and its current constituent parts. The majority of the timeline is MDA centric, which is no longer relevant and should be moved to the MDA article. Spaceman13 (talk) 14:05, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Misleading Timeline edit

Maxar did not exist before 2017. Does the history prior to that belong in this article? Humphrey Tribble (talk) 18:31, 13 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Neptec AfD-merge edit

There's a February AfD with the outcome that Neptec Design Group should merge to Maxar Technologies. However, it seems better to merge to the relevant subsidiary, MDA (company). For example, the current Neptec website points to MDA Space. There merge/acquisition history seems to argue for that more strongly. Klbrain (talk) 08:53, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge of WorldView Legion into Maxar Technologies edit

Insufficient content for independent articles. Should be merged to ownership/operator company. TRL (talk) 02:47, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think fleshing out the Legion page is probably the right thing to do. The company's first Worldview series has its own page. The Legion series is distinct enough to merit it. Also there are six satellites committed to the constellation, with large distinctions from the original Worldview series. Georgekwatson (talk) 14:02, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I take part of that back. The original Worldview satellites are on the Digitaglobe page and lack a good deal of information. I guess what might be informative is the treatment of other modestly sized satellite constellations. Georgekwatson (talk) 14:06, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
