editAt art school you don't 'get taught' to be an artist and you can't 'teach yourself' to be an artist. Thankyou —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.193.45.172 (talk) 18:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Quote from "Don't get Angry..." article.
editThis is thin support for the claim in the article here, but it's the best I can find so far:
"'In the trajectory of art history there are artists who work with humor but who are actually serious, said Nancy Spector, curator of contemporary art at the Guggenheim. Maurizio's works are not random acts of silliness. They have meaning now, and they'll have meaning later.'"

Putting on the record
editSix of my good clean-up edits were deleted and erased along with other editors edits. This is the only time I can recall any of my edits being totally erased, even though the changes I made still seem to be on the page. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:52, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn: there was a section of copyvio at the end, which had been there for a while. It was directly copied from a New Yorker article. I asked Diannaa to do revdel as is appropriate, and she seems to have done that going back many page versions. Are any of your additions missing?ThatMontrealIP (talk) 01:28, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell my edits have remained, just wanted to get "on the record" that my stricken edits were good ones and not copyright vios (never had an edit stricken and hidden before). Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Everyone knows your edits are good. The revdel was due to an IP back in 2013 who lifted a paragraph of a New Yorker article, which stuck for six years until I just caught it.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:04, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, and good work on discovering the lift. Not concerned about people here, thinking if anyone goes back to paw through edits someday. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:41, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Lede
editI have cleaned up the lede a bit. Have a look and contribute, of course. It's tough to say more than a) he is self-taught, b) he's shown everywhere, c) he's almost always called a prankster/joker, d) his work is satirical and e) some of his famous works are x, y and z. If anyone can think of more, have at it.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:08, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
Ghost Track artwork?
editI took this out of the list of notable works, as I could not find any mention of it whatsoever. "One of his most controversial art works is Ghost Track: in December 2009 for his solo show in Milan there was a "strange" similarity between the puppets representation of himself and Massimo Tartaglia (Silvio Berlusconi attacker in December 2009)." I wonder, given the article subject, if it might be a hoax.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:13, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
