- The lede is excessively detailed. I suggest dropping the ship's names.

- Clarify that poverty prevented him from joining the Army and lack of education the clergy.

- Any reason given for the translation from Burford to Russell? No promotion involved and not a more prestigious ship, AFAIK.
- Nothing in particular. Would assume needs of the service, the death of a lieutenant opening a spot that needed to be filled or similar.
